St Gemma's Charity Shops go Techno with Maxa Solutions' Charity Epos System
Services provider installs state of the art Point of Sales Solutions
Altrincham – 10th February 2010: Today, charity epos solutions provider Maxa Solutions announces that St Gemma's Hospice Charity shops has selected its Point of Sale (PoS) solution which includes: EPOS terminals, barcode scanners, cash drawers, thermal receipt printers and chip'n'pin terminals all running Maxa Solutions CHARiot EPOS software which has been created specifically for the charity retail market.
The software's Gift Aid Module was a key driver for the investment of this technology installation. GAoDG (Gift Aid on Donated Goods) allows charities to reclaim the tax on sold donated goods as long as they can provide an audit trail, and they have the permission of the donor.
St Gemma's is a major provider of specialist palliative care and also plays a key role in educating both health care professionals and the general public on the issues around hospice care. To raise money for the organisation they have 18 charity shops which are located across Leeds which sell everything from second hand books, clothes, games and bric-a-brac to some new goods, plus the hospice gift shop which sells purely bought in goods.
Maxa Solutions CHARiot EPOS software and hardware is specifically simplified for the needs of a charity shop environment. The user-friendly graphical interface software is designed so that it is simple for volunteers to understand, and at the same time, the system is sophisticated enough to interact with the demands of multiple management and back office functions.
Vicki Burnett, fundraising manager (trading) at St Gemma’s explained,
"Before we implemented this new technology solution, we just had normal mechanical tills in our shops. However, with the onset of Gift Aid we were forced to look at what technology was available to allow us to effectively take advantage of this legislation. Done right we knew that our investment would pay us back many fold as we recoup the Gift Aid tax on our transactions."
